A protective liner for use in combination with a garment has been patented. The protective liner includes a cup-shaped portion that has a first wide end adapted to cover the “seat” portion of the garment. A second narrow end is adapted to cover the “crotch” portion of the garment and has a first generally smooth surface and a second opposed generally smooth surface. The cup-shaped portion has a long axis of symmetry that respectively crosses through the first wide end and the second narrow end and pair of substantially identical “grip tab” portions. The substantially identical “grip tab” portions are located at an edge of the liner along the axis of symmetry. There is also a plurality of adhesive portions, the first of which is located along the axis of symmetry. A second adhesive portion is located away from the axis of symmetry. A third adhesive portion is located away from the axis of symmetry and is equidistant across the axis of symmetry from the second adhesive portion. There is also a pair of substantially identical elastic rib portions, each of which is respectively located away from the axis of symmetry at the edge of the protective liner. The elastic ribs are adapted to be selectively extended to enlarge the size of the protective liner. Each of the elastic rib portions is respectively supported by the second and third adhesive portions.
